February 2010

We're not quite through February yet but it's sure been a fun month. A bit colder than we'd like but as we've now been in Bermuda for almost 7 years our definition of cold has changed just a bit!

As we count down the days to the arrival of Kailie's little sister / brother I have seem to have mixed emotions of both excitement for the newest member of our family but also just a bit of sadness to have less time to focus just on Kailie. She is sure the center of our world and we just love every minute - I have no doubt that our littlest one will only enrich our family further but until then I'm sure going to treasure this time with my oldest baby:)

Here are the pic's of some of the fun we've been having recently, including some pictures of Kailie's fun during her days with Grace.

Two of Kailie's favorite little friends - Alina and Hannah

Fun with Alina at the aquarium playground (thanks Juliette for these pic's)!

Kailie and Grace on a play-date

Mummy and Kailie met Alina and some of Kailie's other friends at the park - they were so excited to see her!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Finger painting on a rainy day

Recently Kailie has insisted on having 'all my toys' when she goes to bed or even for a nap - on this particular day we went in to wake her up and we could hardly find her!

Daddy getting in on the fun:)

A multi-color day spent with Daddy ;-)

Curls Curls Curls!
While Joel and I can both trace back to having somewhat curly hair when we were little we certainly didn't have these kind of curls so we're not too sure how our curly-locks got hers but we sure love these curls!! I can't tell you how many times people have asked if her hair is naturally curly?! Even with the greatest of efforts there's no way I could do this on purpose! Fingers crossed she gets to keep her curls as she gets older, but then I'll probably end up with a teenager who spends hours straightening her hair (right Dad)??!!

Gymnastics!

For the last few months Kailie has been going to a gymnastics class once a week - and she is just having a blast!! She's getting better and better at following along with what the teacher says to do but she still has a lot of fun doing her own thing too;)

It seems, as with any toddler, there are a lot of options that we could put Kailie into - so far her favorites are swimming, gymnastics and Kindermusik and now there is even some discussion about a dance class next year but we'll see as we don't want to burn her (or Mummy and Daddy) out! No matter what the activity it's sure fun to watch her learn and grow all while having lots of fun.

Here are some pics of all the fun we had this week.

'Almost' a handstand - all on her own!

Now that she knows how to swing she does it on her highchair at home!

Not her favorite move . . . but can you blame her?!

If we could just get her to look at the camera after her big jump!

First we do A LOT of jumping . . . .

. . . then up we go!

Each week it's either the bouncy floor or the trampoline - both are a huge hit!

Ok Mummy - time to head home for a nap:)

Baby Matthews

I'm 17 weeks into my 2nd pregnancy, just started wearing some maternity clothes, and I've started to feel the baby move - I think it's time that the littlest Matthews gets a posting!

Looking back at my blogs from when I was pregnant with Kailie I'd had already written 8 blogs by this stage of my pregnancy - but oooohhhh how times have changed, for the good of course ;-)

This pregnancy has been quite different in good and not-so-good ways. I was pretty sick up to about the 9 week mark but after that as long as I stayed well-fed I didn't have near the sickness I had with Kailie which was a huge relief. However I have felt so unbelievably tired this time around. I know that most of this is because I have a 2-year old to chase after this time, but the kind of tired and shut down feeling that I get just completely overwhelms me at times and I just don't ever remember anything remotely close to that the first time around. The good thing is that those bouts of extreme tiredness are becoming less and less and the weeks move on so I'm very thankful for that.

We've started getting Kailie used to the idea of a brother or sister and she has already started talking about 'when the baby comes home' . . . . poor big sister has no idea what she's in for, and I don't think her Mummy and Daddy know what their in for either! We feel very blessed that our family is growing but know full well that it's going to be an adjustment:)

Nothing else too exciting to report. Joel and I have both been busy with work and our busy season (Joel's seems to drag on quite a bit longer than any of us would like) but it makes us enjoy our time all together even more when we do get it.

Hope everyone at home is well and keeping warm and/or getting out to enjoy all that snow!

Luv - JKK?

Christmas 2010

What a fantastic Christmas holiday we had!! This year we were in Alberta and despite the cold at the beginning of our holiday we really had such a great time visiting family. Kailie and I went out a week ahead of Joel and after a 'bit' of a tough flight out of Bermuda (i.e. Kailie and I were both so traumatized after our first flight that I thought we were going to have to drive from Toronto to Calgary!) we persevered and were rewarded with a MUCH better flight to Calgary (i.e. Kailie slept for 3.75hrs of the 4 hr flight!) we happily arrived in Calgary to meet up with Auntie Keli, Baby Maya, Auntie Kayt and Asia. After a fantastic week in beautiful Canmore and Calgary we then headed North for Dad & Mary Ann's for Christmas.

Despite alllllll of the pictures I have from this Christmas there were a few visits that I unfortunately didn't get any pictures of, but despite the missing pictures we still had so much fun, a few of the picturless highlights were:

- Seeing Grammie Kim, Asia and Kailie had a great time running around wild, dressing up as princess', and giving endless kisses to Grammie Kim!

- Meeting Cooper! We were sad to have missed Grady and James, but Mummy was sure happy to catch up with Christy . . . . and as usual amazed at how an hour or two kinda felt like a minute!!

- Seeing Kristi & Derek, our visit was badly times as the Slemko kiddo's were sleeping but Kailie was kept very busy by all their toys and the Mummy's again broke some records with how much talking could happen in a short span of time, I think our hubby's are still in awe at our ability to speak and listen at the same time ;-)

- Catching up with our Bermuda pals Dan, Char & Mackenzie, it was great to see how some dear friends from Bermuda had settled into Calgary so nicely. I was only a 'tiny' bit jealous ;-)

I'm sure I've missed other highlights as the trip was a bit of a whirl-wind, but as I do have a ton of pictures to help me remember, I'll let the pictures tell the rest of our holiday story.

These two couldn't get enough of each other, they both asked for each other first thing each morning.

Christmas Eve story with Papa.

Asia and Kailie loved any chance to get to hold their sweet cousin baby Maya:) They each took turns holding her head and feet and Maya was so good about it all!

Gram Phyllis also joined us in AB for a visit - it was great to spend some time with her too!

The girls and their matching Elmo pj's:)

Thanks for the very pretty dress Auntie Do-Do, Uncle Tyler, Evan & Mae!

Christmas morning and two very patient little girls:)

One of my favorite pictures - 4 generations of Robertson's!

Before pressies - it was off to church!

Papa just relaxing with Baby Maya.

Opening Christmas gifts - these princess shoes were a HUGE hit - thanks Grampa J!

Our little princess:)

Mommy's little helper

Towards the end of our trip it finally warmed up enough for us to get bundled up and head outside!!

The first day of sledding Asia was the only one who could be convinced to give it a try, Kailie wasn't that easily convinced!

However, the next day, after one trip down the hill with Mummy, Kailie couldn't get enough and her and Asia doubled up for MANY MANY runs down the hill.

Here they come - they got going so fast down that little hill, but they just loved it!

Before the sled even came to a complete stop - they were both chanting "Again"!!

Papa and Daddy worked off turkey dinner that day with all the runs UP the hill!

Maya even came to watch some of the fun - I'm sure she'll be the 3rd little monkey on that sled in a year or two!

After tearing them away from the toboggan hill, Daddy and Papa took Kailie and Asia on a little trip to see some horses and the cutest little donkey.

What great memories were had by all this Christmas:)
