Christmas 2014

The great thing about being so far behind in my blogs is that it's March and I'm still re-living Christmas!!  So many great memories made again this Christmas!  Having young kids especially makes every Christmas very special and so different:)  This year we made the trip to Alberta where we enjoyed some wonderful family time and remembered what winter was all about!!

So many pictures yet they only just scrape the surface of all the fun we had - some of the most fun moments the camera never made an appearance, either that or it was too cold to take my hands out to take the pictures ;-)  There is something just so special about Christmas that I just can't get enough of, yes it's over commercialized and can get much too crazy . . . but when you strip all that away it is a beautiful time of year to be with family - which always makes me realize just how incredible richly blessed we are:)

I hope yours was as wonderful as ours!!  xx

I'm so lucky to be Mommy in this family!!
Kailie LOVES arts and crafts and at Christmas she sure had her fill!

Adventures Of MIA (or ZOE - depending on the day!!!) . . . our elf on the shelf had lots of fun hanging out with Ralphie The Reindeer (see last years Christmas post for more of Ralphie's adventures)!
Swinging from the ceiling fan - you have to look pretty close to spot her here!

While Christmas was well underway - Mommy slipped away for a girls weekend where my friend Jenn and I enjoyed a weekend of racing and shopping!  It was my first Olypmic Triathlon and it was so much fun!!  We had a really great weekend and Key West was absolutely beautiful.  We are already talking about how we might be able to fit it into our schedule this year:)

First up was the race . . . . gorgeous weather, really great people and FLAT FLAT FLAT - just perfect conditions, verging on a bit too hot for the run but we weren't complaining:)
Then it was time to start relaxing and enjoying KW:)
A little post-race toast at Cheesecake Cafe:)
A "little" retail therapy too!!  I think we got as much of a workout walking the malls as we did on our race . . . or maybe even more!!  We had a very limited amount of time to get all our Christmas shopping done - but we were up to the challenge!
While I was gone - Super Daddy looked after K&K, including a trip to ER due to an eye infection.  Aside from this little hiccup Daddy and the kids had what sounded like a lot of fun on their weekend:)
Kolton carrying on a Robertson Christmas tradition!! ;-)

LOVE LOVE LOVE! xx

Kailie's Christmas Concert at Saltus - hard to see her but she's the Snow Princess in the blue off to the right.  Kailie's Christmas concert was all about how Jack Frost had not sent snow for Christmas so everyone (the Snow Fairies, the Reindeer, the Elves etc) were baking in the sun when it should have been winter.  While it was a lovely little production and I was very proud of Kailie . . . I pretty much sat in my seat steaming and grumbling the whole time!!  To me a kids school Christmas play should be a little less Santa centered and a lot more Jesus centered!!  Anyway - we knew this when we sent her to Saltus so I just had to put a smile on my face and know that she was smart enough to know what Christmas was really about, despite what her school Christmas play was about.
Kolton's 1st Christmas Concert!  My shy little boy wasn't too thrilled with being on stage - he was quite happy when it was all done:)  I suspect next year could be a bit different . . . !!
Mommy & Daddy headed to Joel's work Christmas part where the theme was 1920's - it was really fantastic!
Although this had not so much to do with Christmas - it was Kolton's first bus ride that we happened to take in December - you can tell by the look on his face  how he felt about it ;-)
Finally - time to head to Grama & Papa's!!!
And this is what we looked like when we got there!!  The kids quickly got a quick lesson in what cold really was!

First stop in our Christmas Holiday was a few days in our favorite spot - Canmore!!  Doesn't matter what time of year we just love it here and of course there is the added bonus of getting some quality time with the Mahon Family!
Treat time in Banff:)
Kolton spent so much time on this little slide at our hotel - it was just perfect for him!
Uncle Stefan putting the littles through a workout!!  This quickly changed to the littles sitting on Uncle Stefan while he did push-ups for all of them ;-) !

After a fantastic time in Canmore we packed up the crew, picked up Gram from the airport and headed to Grama & Papa's.  After spending all summer with G&P Kailie was especially excited to get there, she had been talking about going to G&P for MONTHS and we were finally on our way!

So much cousin fun!
One of the first nights we were at Grama & Papa's we packed up the whole crew and took some of Grama's beautiful gifts and went caroling to the neighbors:)  Although it was a chilly night we received a very warm reception for their lovely neighbors!  I think Dad has forgotten the speed that a group has to move in when you have kiddos ages 2, 4, and 5 along . . . lets just say that Dad thought we should have been able to see many more neighbors in a much shorter amount of time!!

She blends right into the run but Chloe was posing in front of the barrage of gifts that made their way out from under the tree.  We were all getting worried that the living room was going to be completely overtaken . . . . we are all SO spoiled and SO incredibly blessed to be able to celebrate and share these many gifts with each other.

LOVED watching them open pressies together:)

Banz & Kolton being tunnels for the train!

Asia & Kailie working on crafts from G&P!!

Kolton seems to think that Grama & Papa's is a clothing-free zone - no matter what the season!!

Yes this is my boy!!  Color doesn't really matter when your warm - or at least that's what I told him!  He can take it up with me in years to come ;-)  In addition to driveway hockey, there was lots of sliding and even some play on the swings . . . not as much outdoor play as we would have liked but when the temps went up just a bit we did try to get out when we could . . . the kids (and Papa!) were much braver than Mommy and the rest of the Aunts!

Chase is just adored as the oldest cousin:)

Always a highlight of being at home is time spent with GG!  She spent a few days with us at G&P and we had some time to go and visit her after too - we just all love and adore her so much.

Despite the cold I still did my best to keep some level of training going over Christmas . . . let me tell you, in a quiet little country town that is covered in feet of snow and freezing cold you get a 'few' interesting looks from the residents as you go jogging by!!
Kailie & Maya loving their matching outfits and Kolton didn't want to be left out of course!
Time to head home to Bermuda . . . . and although warmer temperatures awaited us, it is still always hard to say good-bye.

After a long Christmas break from his crib it was time for Kolton to graduate to a big boy bed . . . this was his first time in his Thomas Bed - the look on his face says it all - he just LOVED it!

So many wonderful memories from this Christmas and really just a few pics to show for it.  Having a 2 year old and a 5 year old makes for some wonderful memories and when shared with family it really doesn't get any better!!  Thanks all for sharing your Christmas with us!  xx
